Yes, as it turns out. It may not be the most effective rejuvenating drink but it still has a lot of merit. How much should you drink? Probably no more than 2-3 cups in a sitting. That's allowing for a larger protein shake/smoothie too.
Well, bold of you to assume I need an excuse to drink chocolate milk. The question is, why not drink chocolate milk?
Chocolate milk has an appreciable balance of macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fat) as well as a variety of vitamins and electrolytes to help recover and replenish the body.
There is actually a lot of supporting science. Normally I would be simply encouraged by a rumor that chocolate milk is beneficial, but let's be scientific about it.
I'd reccomend a smoothie, and I can't say that without providing a recipe.
2 cups unsweetened chocolate almond milk (5-10 grams protein)
protein powder (pea protein is great) 1-2 scoops
1/2 cup frozen fruit (I prefer cherries or blueberries)
maybe a couple mint leaves
1 tbsp hemp seeds
Blend till homogeneous
As for a shake, you can use just about the same recipe. Just forego the frozen fruit.
It's up to your preference. There are 9 calories per gram of fat, meaning the higher the amount of fat, the more calories. Carbs and protein both have 4 calories per gram, making them ideal macronutrients to prioritize when trying to minimize calory input. However, if you want the most flavor, fat is where the flavor is and the best tasting drinks will not shy away from fat.
